Ayurvedic Wellness Basics: Foundational Elements of a Harmonious Body
Saturday Jun 17, 9am-5pm
Learn how to make conscious food choices that are practical for your daily life and support your unique constitution
About the Retreat
Ayurveda is a rich and vast body of wisdom that provides lifelong learning. In this course we have focused on what is practical and instantly applicable to daily life in our western world.
Each of us has a ‘gut feeling’ about what is right for us. Intuition and awareness are key when it comes to knowing what to take in. Our diet is comprised not just of what we eat but of all the major influences coming into our energetic sphere. Ayurveda provides a comprehensive lens through which we can look at all these aspects of our lives.
In this course we learn how to identify the major doshic imbalances that lie at the root of chronic issues. By using real time feedback from our bodies, we can discover how to affect immediate change to bring us back into balance. We learn how to prioritize what symptoms need to be looked at and discover where our best starting point is.
In addition, we explore some Ayurvedic wellness basics, some simple recipes to build upon and general food guidelines to help maintain health. We explore the Ayurvedic principles of Dinecharya (daily routine), Ama (undigested materials) and Ojas (life force) and learn how these contribute to our overall state of balance.
The Details
We start the day and end it with a deeply nourishing movement practice that will ground you and help you feel connected to your wise and creative body.
We present how health is defined in Ayurveda, where food fits into its framework, and introduce you to the Doshas.
We explore some of the principles of ‘Enlightened Nutrition’ and discover how we can incorporate this wisdom into our daily lives. This includes looking at food from the perspective of its life energy, exploring how we can optimize our digestion and reduce toxic build-up. We gain an understanding of the ancients’ perspective on cravings, what they mean and how we can balance them. We prepare and eat a healthy Ayurvedic lunch together. Our approach is experiential, interactive and fun. We look forward to having you there :)

Working in her mother’s organic restaurant instilled a love of food which remains central to her and inspires her work. Juli believes that at the root of ill health lies a disconnect from nature. She has made it her life’s work to understand and share with the world how to reconnect to the wider nature and ourselves. Juli runs a private practice using Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Bach Flower Essences and Ayurveda. She works from a converted shed behind her house, nestled in nature and surrounded by woods and her biodynamic garden.
